Barrie's new draft Zoning By-law
The City of Barrie is creating a new Zoning By-law, which is designed to implement the vision and policies of Barrie’s new Official Plan. The development of the new By-law has been in development for over two years, including extensive public engagement and consultation. This consultation included public meetings (in-person and virtual options) and open house events, a city-wide mail piece, pop-up events, extensive communication via the City's website and social media channels, and various advertisements placed to ensure all residents were informed as much as possible.
Thank you for your input as we work towards Barrie's new Zoning By-law!

What's next?
All comments received from the public engagement, including the November 14 meeting, are being reviewed. City staff will be revisiting Draft 3 of the new Zoning By-law and will produce a final draft for consideration in early 2025. Next steps will include a staff report and the final draft of the new Zoning By-law being presented to General Committee. The staff report will include a summary of comments received through the consultation process, as well as staff responses.
